“You Blew IT!!!!”

The NBA is stupid.

How can you win by 41 points on Sunday, and lose by 3 points on Tuesday?! The answer SHOULD be, you can’t.

Warriors Collapse

you blew it

Game four of the Western Conference Finals was played Tuesday night. With a 2-1 lead, the Golden State Warriors, at home, were looking to secure a commanding series lead. After jumping out to a 12-0 lead nearly halfway through the 1st quarter, that looked like a certainty. If only the Warriors knew the NBA gods were about to stuff them into a locker.

Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson collectively went ice cold. They shot a combined 23-for-63 from the field. That’s 36.5%. That’s not good.

warriors lose

Despite their lackluster performance, they returned to Warrior form, if only for 12 minutes. They scored 34 points in the 3rd quarter. Like I told you Monday, the Warriors should ©, ®, or ™ the 3rd quarter. However, when you score 30 points in the 2nd and 4th quarters combined, you don’t often win basketball games. 95-92, not Golden State.

Game five will be played in Houston on Thursday @ 9:00 P.M. EST on TNT. Expect a bounce back performance from Golden State.

Matt Harvey Sucks A Little Bit Less Than He Used To

Matt-Harvey-throws-four-scoreless-in-Cincinnati-Reds-debut

Matt Harvey landed in the win column Tuesday.

Allow me to repeat myself: Matt Harvey landed in the WIN column Tuesday!!

This is the part when Mets fans throw things at their wall. Now, I know it’s been just three games, but Matt Harvey, all of a sudden, resembles a Major League pitcher….

(Insert Mets’ Fan Screaming Sound Here).

mets fans

In eight appearances with the Mets, Harvey surrendered 21 runs in 27 innings.

In three appearances with the Reds, 4 runs in 14 innings.

Hmmmmm, very interesting.

Don’t get me wrong, Harvey’s not going to turn back into an ace, but his e.r.a. has dropped from 7.00 to 5.49 in just three starts. I’m just sayin’….this is the METS’ WAY.

But hey, at least they signed Jose Bautista….

Christian Hackenberg

hackenberg

From the Mets’ way to the Jets’ way.

Christian Hackenberg was drafted in the 2nd round (51st overall pick) out of Penn State in 2016. The Jets hoped Hackenberg could turn into a future star at the QB position. However, he never saw the field. This draft pick is an epic failure in the long list of epic failures for the New York Jets.

And now, Hackenberg has been shipped off to Oakland to compete for the backup QB job with the Raiders. Only the Jets know how to turn a 2nd round draft pick into a 7th round draft pick in two years.

Don’t make fun. That’s not easy to do.

How many games will it take the Warriors to win this series?? Do the Mets care about winning — at all?! Spill your guts in the comment section below.

Monday….It’s Not ALL Bad

Monday.

The start of the week. The root of all evil — for some.

monday

Hey, dummy, instead of hating Mondays, why don’t you embrace the awesomeness it often provides.

LeBron

Boston Celtics v Cleveland Cavaliers - Game Four

Yes, I write about LeBron James a lot. See, it’s like when Michael Jordan was playing. Even though the Knicks fan in me hated MJ’s guts, I appreciated his greatness. I didn’t want him to retire (three times), but all careers come to an end. While I wish LeBron would don a Knicks’ uniform, and I don’t necessarily love him, I appreciate his greatness.

44 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals

He surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most field goals in postseason history.

And he’s just two games away from his 8th consecutive NBA Finals appearance.

Just another day at the office.

The Cleveland LeBrons jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They won the 1st quarter 34-18, and despite losing each following quarter, never relinquished the lead. 111-102 brings the Eastern Conference Finals to 2-2, and the momentum has fully shifted to the LeBrons. The Celtics will be happy to return home, as they’re just 1-6 on the road in the playoffs.

I’ll stick with my original prediction: LeBrons in six.

There’s Nothing Better Than A Game 7

Tampa Bay Lightning v Washington Capitals - Game Six

The Washington Capitals, the perennial disappointment, are looking to change history. Often lauded as Eastern Conference contenders, the Capitals repeatedly fail to live up to expectations. Prior to this season, the Capitals had lost in the 2nd round in three consecutive seasons. But Monday night, they forced a game 7, keeping their chance alive to return to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 20 years. Not since the ’97-’98 season have the Capitals played in the Finals (they were swept 4-0 by the Detroit Red Wings).

Behind the strong play of goaltender, Braden Holtby (24 saves), and right wing, TJ Oshie (2 goals), the Capitals took down the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-0. With the Cinderella story, Las Vegas Golden Knights, waiting on the other side, the Capitals would be seeking their first Stanley Cup. But first, they must handle their business, on the road, in game 7.

Clear your schedule, and watch game 7. There’s nothing better. Trust me.

Wednesday, May 23rd @ 8:00 P.M. EST on NBCSN.

Juan Soto Thinks Age Is Just A Number

NationalsJuanSoto1stHR_1526951554275_5565556_ver1_0_640_360

I wonder what it’s like to be a Phenom. A 19-year old Phenom who jumped straight from Double-A to the Major Leagues overnight and hit a monster three-run home run in his 2nd ever MLB at-bat (1st pitch in 1st start).

World, Juan Soto. Juan Soto, world.

Naturally, since he plays for the Washington Nationals, Soto is already being compared to Bryce Harper. It’s fair, I guess, considering the list of 19-year olds to hit home runs in MLB history is rather short.

Soto is from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He’s currently the 15th ranked prospect in MLB. And he plays the outfield. Many expect Soto to have a long, fruitful career in the middle of the batting order. If he continues to show-off opposite field power, like this, he may very well do that….

You Can’t Fix Stupid!!

There’s a lot of STUPID running around.

It’s a good thing it’s not contagious….

Or is it?!

NBA Playoffs Schedule

waiting-for-the-nba-finals-to-start-nbamemes-got-me-21770793

This one makes my brain hurt.

The NBA Playoffs are in full swing. The Boston Celtics lead the Cleveland LeBrons 2-0, while the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets are tied 1-1. While both series’ required a travel day after game two, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, I didn’t realize they needed THREE TRAVEL DAYS!!!!

What are they doing, walking from Cleveland and Boston?!?!

That’s right, game two of the Celtics/LeBrons’ series was Tuesday. Game three is Saturday. The Warriors/Rockets’ series will follow suit, turning Wednesday into Sunday. Listen, I get it. The NBA Finals is a pre-determined date, so they want to spread out their off days rather than get stuck with a full week of radio silence. This also begs the question: Why MUST the NBA Finals be a pre-determined date??

If only there were simple solutions to simple problems….

Mets 9th Inning Delay

Blue Jays Mets Baseball

Common sense is rare nowadays.

The New York Mets hosted the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday afternoon despite steady rainfall — all game. MLB and the Umpire’s crew determined the conditions were playable.

This game shouldn’t have been played.

If player safety was an actual concern, MLB would have postponed this game along with the 1,900 other games that have been affected by weather conditions this season.

Fast forward to the 3rd inning. Zach Wheeler’s bat slipped out of his hands, traveling a healthy distance toward 1st base. The umpires then asked the grounds crew to spread a drying agent on the field, causing a 15-minute delay.

Hit the fast forward button again. We arrive at the bottom of the 9th inning, with two outs, and the Mets trailing 12-0. The umpires decide this was the RIGHT time for the grounds crew to spread more drying agent on the field!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! In a 12-run game, and one out to go, why would anyone in their right mind think a 5-minute delay, to keep the players “safe”, is a good idea?!

You can’t make this stuff up.

Cleveland Browns Being Featured On Hard Knocks

cleveland-browns-vs-cincinnati-bengals-october-1-2017-18945ba447f924ac_png

The Cleveland Browns are the epitome of failure. They didn’t win a single game this past season. And only won one game the season before. Free agents don’t want to play for the Browns. Coaches don’t want to coach the Browns. And fans don’t want to watch the Browns. So, who was the genius who thought featuring the Cleveland Browns on HBO’s Hard Knocks would be a good idea?!?! I thought HBO was in the money making business….

I am NOT tuning in to HBO to watch the Cleveland Browns’ training camp. Yeah, maybe 15 people will tune in to watch Baker Mayfield, but the other 327,875,985 people in the United States will opt for a Netflix show, or golf, or watching paint dry. Because anything is better, for entertainment value, and your health, than watching the Cleveland Browns “play” football.

Dez Bryant Saying No To Money

dez-fight-2

Dez Bryant is an idiot.

After being cut by the Dallas Cowboys for sucking, Dez Bryant is unemployed. Bryant, once one of the most promising young wide receivers in the NFL, has wildly underperformed over the past three seasons. At just 29 years old, a one-year, single-digit contract would seem to be in his near future. However, he’s not smart enough to understand that.

I wonder what it’s like to look in the mirror and see platinum and gold, when reality is showing you sterling silver.

The only team to offer Bryant a contract is the Baltimore Ravens. The details of the offer haven’t been publicized, however, Bryant turned it down. Seeing as Bryant is known for his poor attitude, and his play has greatly diminished, his thought process is baffling.

NFL teams will put up with bad attitudes, and off the field troubles, IF the production on the field is there, but without the latter, Bryant may remain unemployed longer than expected.

Best. Week. EVER (For Everyone Except Robinson Cano)!!

When all four major sports collide, special things happen in the universe.

Special, this week, is an understatement.

MLB suspensions, a new Monday Night Football crew, NBA playoffs, NBA awards, and NHL playoffs. Could this week get any better?!

Robinson Cano Suspension

robinson-cano-1-696x391

Everybody cheats. No revelation here, just simple fact. The professional athlete, by definition, seeks a competitive advantage. On the field or at home. Robinson Cano chose the latter. It was announced Tuesday that Cano had tested positive for the banned substance, furosemide. Furosemide is a diuretic, and MLB determined Cano used it as a masking agent and doled out an 80 game suspension. Cano has chosen not to appeal but made the following statement:

“Recently I learned that I tested positive for a substance called Furosemide, which is not a performance enhancing substance,” Cano said in a statement released by the MLB Players Association. “… For more than 15 years, playing professional baseball has been the greatest honor and privilege of my life. I would never do anything to cheat the rules of the game that I love, and after undergoing dozens of drug tests over more than a decade, I have never tested positive for a performance enhancing substance for the simple reason that I have never taken one.”

raw

While Cano’s suspension will begin immediately, the timing of his “punishment” infuriates me to no end. Cano broke a bone in his right hand after being hit by a pitch this past Sunday. So, while Cano will lose $11.85 of his $24 million salary (boohoo!), he’ll have the privilege of serving his suspension from the DL. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?! Suspension time should not count during DL stints. That’s common sense!!

New MNF Crew

MNF-Team-MZ-Front-Featured

Monday Night Football is getting a much needed makeover. Fresh off retirement, Jason Witten (analyst) will headline the new MNF crew. He’ll be joined by Joe Tessitore (play-by-play), Booger McFarland (field analyst), and Lisa Salters (sideline reporter).

No one knows if Witten will be any good, as he has ZERO broadcasting experience, but he’s well liked (he’s got that going for him). Joe Tessitore will be an ENORMOUS upgrade over the most monotone voice in sports, Sean McDonough. Lisa Salters, a consummate professional, will be a nice addition to a program in need of professionalism. As for Booger McFarland, your guess is as good as mine….

NHL Playoffs

Sports Betting Is Coming To A Living Room Near You!!

I’ll make you a bet!

Oh don’t worry, you won’t get in trouble, it’s legal now.

As of Monday, May 14th, all states are free to authorize sports betting. This is a monumental day in United States’ history. NO, I’m not exaggerating. This effects everyone — everywhere.

This result stems from a Supreme Court ruling (6-3) that abolished the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA). PASPA, aka the Bradley Act was passed in 1992 and outlawed sports betting nationwide (expect Nevada of course).

Years have been spent trying to overturn PASPA, hoping to legalize, regulate, and tax sports betting. And Monday, persistence prevailed. The Supreme Court cited the violation of the 10th Amendment, stating it allowed federal law to commandeer states’ rights as it pertained to sports betting.

While this is a GIANT step in the right direction, many questions still exist:

  • Will sports organizations receive a “cut”??
  • Will EVERY state participate??
  • Will each sports’ integrity remain intact??

Yes, each sports organization is going to attempt to receive their piece of the pie. That’s logical, reasonable, and will happen.

college-spobet1-725x302

I can’t speak for Hawaii, Alaska, Montana, South Dakota, etc., but every state SHOULD participate. It’s a money making venture, and last I checked, states are in the money making business.

Integrity. It’s a funny word. Does such a thing exist?? If so, does it exist in sports betting?! People are funny. Integrity exists in 95% of people — everywhere. There will ALWAYS be a small percentage, whether in sports betting, banking, religion, politics, etc., that will look for a shortcut. An advantage by cutting corners, that may, in turn, compromise integrity. That my friends, is called human nature.

So, to think the legalization of sports betting is going to compromise the integrity of sports, is laughable. That 5% already exists, you just pretend not to see it.

What WILL happen: Increased accessibility. Casual fans, who never imagined betting on the outcome of a game before, may be enticed to lay some action.

Forgive me, but all I can think about is Dumb & Dumber:

200

Lloyd: I’ll bet you twenty dollars I can get you gambling before the day is out!
Harry: No!
Lloyd: I’ll give you three to one odds.
Harry: No.
Lloyd: Five to one.
Harry: No.
Lloyd: Ten to one?
Harry: You’re on!
Lloyd: I’m gonna get ya!
Harry: Nu uh!
Lloyd: I don’t know how but I’m gonna get ya.

Classic!!

Sports betting, gambling, lottery, cigarettes, and alcohol. All can be harmful if utilized the wrong way, but where do we draw the line?? THAT is THE question. The answer, however, is an opinion. Mine believes freedom and personal responsibility are the answers. Unfortunately, they don’t collide in the same sentence often enough….

How do you feel about the legalization of sports betting???? Please tell me in the comment section below.

Here’s To Watching Sports While You’re Supposed To Be ENJOYING Brunch

This one’s for the weekend warriors.

The brave souls who watched LeBron get his butt whipped on their phone under the brunch table. The uncomfortable sweater wearing golf fans who watched Webb Simpson dominate on a tablet hidden between a dove shaped napkin and their mimosa.

LeBron

cleveland-cavaliers-v-boston-celtics-game-one-e1526256329668-681x383

I MUST preface this section with an explanation, for if I don’t, LeBron Lifers may run me over with their car. You know who you are….

When things are going well, LeBron deserves all the praise in the world. However, when s*** hits the fan, LeBron deserves the blame. That was Sunday. The Cleveland LeBrons must have mixed up their schedules. Showing up to a charity event (you’re supposed to lose on purpose) instead of Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals is inexcusable.

SCORING 83 POINTS IS INEXCUSABLE!!!!

LeBron didn’t lead his team in scoring (Kevin Love – 17), finishing with just 15 points. This is LeBron’s lowest playoff point total (11 points) since Game Three of the 2017 playoffs, against you guessed it, the Boston Celtics. By the way, the LeBrons took down the Celtics in five games last year — I’m just sayin’. The LeBrons looked awful on Sunday. They got outworked, outhustled, and outeverythinged (108-83).

James Frederick Webb Simpson

skysports-webb-simpson-golf_4309747

Simply known as Webb, James Frederick Webb Simpson handily won The 2018 Players Championship. Through two rounds, Simpson was 15-under par. That’s INSANE. And for those who don’t play golf, that’s like hitting 10 half-court shots, in the first half.

At 19-under par, Simpson was so far ahead through three rounds (7-strokes), he literally played NOT to lose. Shooting a one-over, 73, while the whole world was skyrocketing up the leaderboard is evidence enough for me. While the smart play, it made for a boring Sunday. 19 of the top-22 finishers shot rounds of 69 or better, including Brooks Koepka’s 63!!!! ALSO INSANE!!!! Those same top-22 golfers finished the tournament -10 or better. ALSO INSANE!!!!

Tiger Woods made a cameo appearance this weekend. After making the cut, on the number (-1), Tiger had himself a Saturday, posting a 7-under, 65. This caused ‘stupidity’ to trend on Twitter….When will Tiger win a Major?! When will he be #1 again?! When will he break Jack Nicklaus’ record?! The Answers: Never, Never, and NEVER!!

No performance was more impressive, or more unexpected, than Simpsons. Having missed the cut four out of his last eight times at The Players Championship, Simpson was seeking an end to his victory drought; 107 tournaments. Streak….broken. Following this victory, he banked $1.98 million and rose to 20th in the World Golf Rankings.

Not bad for four days of work.

Still Think It Can’t Get Any Worse?!

This HAS to be rock bottom!!

Just when we think things can’t get any worse for the New York Mets, they find new and exciting ways to screw up. They took failure to a whole new level Wednesday afternoon.

That’s Some Little League Stuff Right There

Despite the Mets’ recent struggles, they seemed poised to turn things around. They shipped Matt Harvey out of town, hoping to boost the morale of the club (plus he sucks). And they had the fortune of playing the WORST team in MLB, the Cincinnati Reds. A series win was a certainty, right?! WRONG!! The Mets lost 2-out-of-3 to the last place Reds in the most epic way imaginable. 2-1 F/10.

Picture This: Brandon Nimmo led off the game, watching three straight fastballs go by for a three-pitch strikeout. Wilmer Flores followed with a strikeout of his own. Asdrubal Cabrera then hit a flare down the left field line that landed in play and bounced into the stands for a ground-rule double. Jay Bruce, the next batter, was promptly called out, ending the inning.

Jay Bruce

Wait, what?!

Called out for what????

THE METS BATTED OUT OF ORDER!!!!

Bruce was called out without stepping into the batter’s box. See, the original lineup card had Asdrubal Cabrera batting 2nd, and Wilmer Flores 3rd. Pretty simple. Home plate umpire, Gabe Morales, officially ruled it 2-unassisted, also striking Cabrera’s double from the record.

Rally over. Inning over. Game over.

mickey callaway

Tell me it doesn’t look like Mickey Callaway is being reprimanded by that umpire.

First year manager, Mickey Callaway, has repeatedly looked overwhelmed this season. He should crawl into a hole and stay there.

Or, maybe owners and general managers should rethink this whole hire inexperienced, sabermetric, yes-men thing….

On To The Next One

cavsceltics

The NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals will be a re-run from last year.

So will the NBA Finals.

Same show, different characters. Isaiah Thomas was pushed down an elevator shaft. Kyrie Irving switched to the dark side, but karma got him as he tried to hop the fence. Gordon Hayward joined the Green Jerks too, but only lasted five minutes before getting hit by a car. Instead, the Celtics have relied on a pile of young, hip actors, trying to play the part of hero in their first season. So far, so good. Ratings are up.

The problem though, for these young “punks”, they’re about to run into THE MAN. The lead actor everyone fears, but at the same time loves. You know him as the Denzel “I’m the motherbleepin’ man” Washington character. THAT MAN is LeBron James. And he’s about to teach these youngins a thing or two. “Old Man” LeBron still has a lot of tread on those tires, and is about to gun it into his eighth consecutive NBA Finals.

Series Prediction: LeBrons in six. Book it!!

Just When You Thought Your Tuesday Couldn’t Get Any Better….

Tuesday is my favorite day of the week.

Saturdays and Sundays are great, but Tuesdays never fail to turn that frown upside down. This past Tuesday, aka yesterday, provided a historic performance, a heated rivalry, and the dumbest trade ever. See, I told you Tuesdays are awesome!!

James Paxton Throws No-Hitter

james paxton

“Oh Canada, our home and native land…”

No, I’m not Canadian, but James Paxton is. Paxton, born in Ladner, British Columbia, made Canadian MLB history Tuesday night. He became the 1st Canadian born pitcher to throw a no-hitter — in Canada. Paxton’s Seattle Mariners kicked off a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night. The Mariners won 5-0.

Paxton cruised through the Blue Jays’ lineup, needing just 99 pitches to complete his no-hitter. He also hit 100 m.p.h. in the bottom of the ninth inning. Of course, as in virtually any no-hitter, it can’t be done without some help from friends. Mariners’ third baseman, Kyle Seager, made an outstanding diving play with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve Paxton’s no-hitter. Following the game, Paxton acknowledged, and appreciated, his teammates behind him:

“What a defense tonight. That was amazing. Those guys were making every play,” Paxton said.

Fat, I Mean, Matt Harvey Traded

giphy

I’m confused. I don’t understand why anyone would TRADE FOR Matt Harvey. I’d have understood signing him to a Minor League deal, assuming no risk, but trading a real-life human being for that pile of flab makes NO SENSE!! But hey, it’s the Cincinnati Reds. Who am I to second guess such a stellar organization?!

This trade is an absolute steal for the New York Mets. Highway robbery. The Mets will receive catcher, Devin Mesoraco, as well as cash in the trade. The Reds will also take on the entirety of Harvey’s $5,788,978 salary. WILD!! While Mesoraco’s career has been sidetracked due to injury, many, many injuries, at 29 years old there’s the sliiiightest chance he returns to the 25 home run, 80 r.b.i. days of 2014.

The funniest part: The Mets are playing the Reds, so Mesoraco literally walked from one dugout to the other, and joined his new team. He even pinch hit in the ninth inning, striking out in a 7-2 loss by the Mets.

Yankees Brought Winning Ways To Heated Rivalry

Remember when idiots booed Giancarlo Stanton???? I wonder what they did Tuesday night when he hit not one, but two home runs against the Boston Red Sox….

That 1st home run….Have you ever seen a baseball leave the field of play faster?!

Heading into a three-game series with the Red Sox, the red hot Yankees stood just one game behind their enemy. But after winning their 16th-out-of-17 (3-2), the Yankees are tied (25-10) with the Red Sox. Divisions aren’t won in May, but it would be nice to watch the Red Sox get swept!!

Luis Severino continued his dominance, striking out 11 in six strong innings. And Aaron Judge’s r.b.i. single in the bottom of the seventh inning turned out to be the winning run. Hooray beer!! The Yankees will look to continue their winning ways Wednesday night when Masahiro Tanaka takes the mound against Rick Porcello. Watch the Yankees beat down the Red Sox @ 7:00 P.M. EST on ESPN.

It’s the best day ever!! The world is coming to an end!!

Some, live this reactionary life, riding the wave of EVERY moment. Some, would be REALLY DUMB!!

Remember when these collective group of morons thought the Cleveland Cavaliers wouldn’t represent the Eastern Conference??

Remember when they thought the Philadelphia 76ers could go to the NBA Finals??

Remember when they thought the New York Yankees were a disaster area, needing to be wiped off the face of the earth??

And remember when they were foolish enough to think the New York Mets could succeed, and stay healthy, and take back New York, and do anything remotely good, and make the playoffs??

Silly idiots….

LeBron, At The Buzzer!!

LeBron James continues to outdo himself, complimenting an already stellar career. His legacy, in his 15th season, is etched in stone. The only question is, how many times will it need to be upgraded or enhanced?? Saturday’s Game 3, 105-103 victory, over the Toronto Raptors didn’t hurt….

Nice double team Toronto!!

The LeBrons are now one game away from their 4th consecutive trip to the Eastern Conference Finals (LeBron’s 8th). I’m pretty sure he’ll handle his business. But I’m also sure there’s a moron running around telling people the LeBrons are about to blow a 3-0 series lead….

Boston Strong

Boston Celtics v Philadelphia 76ers - Game Three

It’s time for a recent history lesson:

The Boston Celtics, aka Danny Ainge, traded out of the 1st overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. They swapped picks with the Philadelphia 76ers (3rd pick) and stored away extra picks for Winter. The 76ers selected Markelle Fultz with the 1st pick. The Celtics selected Jayson Tatum with the 3rd pick. Fultz is watching his 76ers get pummeled, from the bench (after missing nearly the entire season due to injury). Tatum, on the other hand, is leading the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Well played Danny Ainge, well played.

With the Cavaliers “struggling” in the 1st round, the 76ers became the sexy pick in the Eastern Conference. Sexy isn’t always the way to go. Personally, I’m a fan of sweatpants. The 76ers’ time will come, especially if LeBron lands in Philly next season, but that time, is not now.

The Yankees Forgot How To Lose

The future is bright for the Yankees. So is the present. Gleyber Torres has been the Yankees’ #1 prospect since landing in the Bronx via the Aroldis Chapman trade (2016). After being called up last month, Torres has wasted little time playing the part of hero. Torres hit his 1st MLB home run on Friday, May 4th. And just two days later, hit his 1st walk-off home run, helping the Yankees win their 6th straight game (15 of 16).

If only Torres was really young, with tremendous upside….

We Are Who We Thought We Were

You didn’t think the Mets were the Mets who started this season 11-1, did you?! I know you did, based on the amount of trash talk I, the Yankee fan, had to listen to throughout most of April. It’s oddly quiet now….

All we had to do was fast forward three weeks to turn a nine game winning streak into a six game losing streak. And to see Matt Harvey’s fat, lazy, ungrateful ass out the door. Even though delusional Mets’ fans didn’t want to release Harvey in fear he’d land on the Yankees, “figure it out”, and somehow destroy the Mets’ stellar reputation (HAHA!!), they needn’t worry. Harvey’s done, now and forever.

Like I said before the season, 81-and-81 would be a successful season for the Mets.

Home Runs Galore!!!!

Nowadays, there’s a National Day for everything:

National Bring Your Kid To Work Day. National Siblings Day. National Pizza Day. The list goes on, and on, and on.

Well, no one told me Wednesday was National Hit Multiple Home Runs Day.

I must have missed that memo.

Four gentleman took to the streets with their baseball bats and decided one wasn’t enough. It’s like a slice of pizza. One is NEVER enough!

Mookie Betts

Mookie Betts returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday after a four day hiatus. Betts tweaked his hamstring during Saturday’s game, and the Red Sox, as always, were extra cautious with their star outfielder. Betts wasted no time reinserting himself into the AL MVP conversation. Betts cranked not one, not two, but three home runs against the Kansas City Royals. The Red Sox would need every last home run, as they eked out a 5-4 victory, remaining atop the AL East.

Edwin Encarnacion

Edwin Encarnacion has gotten off to an extremely slow start this season. Prior to Wednesday’s matinee, Encarnacion was hitting a pathetic .171. After Wednesday’s three home run, six rbi performance, Encarnacion is finally heading in the right direction. Encarnacion accounted for half of his teams runs, as the Cleveland Indians routed the Texas Rangers 12-4. Speaking of slumping power hitters, Wednesday’s power surge couldn’t have come at a better time for the newest member of the New York Yankees….

Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton may be under the most pressure of any athlete in New York. While donning pinstripes is the ultimate baseball honor, Yankee Nation can become a player’s worst nightmare in a hurry. Stanton found that out in his FIRST game at Yankee Stadium, carrying ‘boo birds’ back to the dugout. Yankee fans are already tired of watching Stanton swing and miss. With 47 strikeouts in just 121 at bats, Yankee fans have been anxiously awaiting the reigning NL MVP to step up to the plate. Well, ask, and you shall receive. Stanton went 3-for-4, mashing home runs in consecutive at bats Wednesday night. He accounted for all of the Yankees’ runs, en route to another 4-0 victory over the Houston Astros.

Nolan Arenado

Nolan Arenado and slump don’t often collide in the same sentence. And this season is no different. At this point, Arenado should change his middle name to ‘The RBI Man’. Over the past three seasons (combined), Arenado has 48 more rbi than the next closest run producer, Edwin Encarnacion (393-345). That’s impressive! And Wednesday, he did what he does. Two home runs, and five rbi, leading his team to an 11-2 whoopin’ of the Chicago Cubs.

Do you, like chicks, dig the long ball???? If you do, tell me about your home run obsession in the comment section below.
